Overview

A cohesive visual identity system for the Fast X soundtrack rollout, designed to balance the franchise's cinematic intensity with platform-specific adaptability across Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.

The Challenge

The Fast X soundtrack needed a visual language that felt fresh while honoring the franchise's massive legacy. The assets effectively needed to:

  • Adapt: Function seamlessly across 16:9 cinematic promos, 1:1 cover art, and 9:16 vertical social clips.
  • Unify: Tie together a diverse lineup of artists under one visual umbrella.
  • Engage: Drive streams through motion-first assets on social media.

The Solution

I collaborated with the SVP of Marketing at APG to develop a modular design system. Instead of treating each asset as a one-off, we built a flexible framework:

1. Single Release System

I created a unified grid layout for single covers. This system allowed us to swap artist imagery and typography while maintaining a consistent "Fast X" look across both static artwork and motion visuals for social platforms.

2. Album Launch Animation

For the official album rollout, I animated the final cover art to create a premium "hero" asset. This motion piece was used across Spotify Canvas, Apple Music, and YouTube to announce the full soundtrack release.

Outcome

The visual system launched alongside the film, contributing to 500 million+ streams. The modular approach allowed the marketing team to react quickly to new single drops, maintaining high visual fidelity without the bottleneck of starting from scratch for each release.
