Challenge

The Fast X soundtrack needed a bold visual identity that matched the franchise’s cinematic intensity while introducing a fresh, engaging look across platforms. The creative direction had to resonate with long-time fans and new listeners, ensuring consistency across cover art, motion content, and promotional rollouts under tight deadlines.


Solution

As Art Director, I collaborated with Artist Partner Group to develop a cohesive visual system built for both still and motion. I designed multiple cover arts and extended them into animated formats for Spotify Canvas, Apple Music, YouTube, and social media. The visual language combined high-energy compositions with specific elements to align with the film’s theme.

All assets were optimized for cross-platform visibility, maintaining consistency while adapting to different aspect ratios, formats, and interactivity requirements.


Branded Cover Art System

As part of the larger visual rollout for the Fast X soundtrack, I developed a series of branded cover artworks for key singles. Each design followed a unified grid system and layout structure, while allowing flexibility in typography, material treatment, and lighting to reflect each track’s tone and artist lineup. I also executed motion art for each cover art.

Design System Highlights:

  • Unified Framework: Consistent placement of artist names, track titles, the asphalt X in the background, and the Fast X brand ensured visual cohesion across platforms.

  • Typographic Variation: Each song title was rendered with a unique type treatment, from chrome and cracked asphalt textures to brushed metal and embossed gold, referencing the energy and emotion of the track.

  • Cinematic Detail: I used gritty textures, spotlight-style lighting, and directional flares to evoke the franchise’s high-octane look and feel.

This system allowed the soundtrack to feel cohesive yet dynamic, reinforcing the identity of Fast X while giving each release its own distinct visual impact.


Album Cover Animation

While I did not design the official Fast X album cover artwork, I was responsible for animating it for digital rollout. The animation was adapted for Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and other social media platforms.


Outcome

The final visuals launched in tandem with the official Fast X soundtrack release, driving engagement across digital platforms and reinforcing brand continuity with the film. The animated components increased audience interaction and shareability, while the visual system elevated the soundtrack’s standalone appeal. This campaign contributed to a polished multimedia rollout and helped position the soundtrack as an essential extension of the Fast & Furious experience, as it accumulated over 50 million total streams.
